FAQ

  • How many dogs does Easys typically have?

Typically, between 50 & 80 dogs/puppies. This number varies often especially when it is puppy season/winter time, and if we get 911 calls.

  • Why did Easys not take my dog/puppy?

We would love to save every dog and puppy out there, but there is LIMITED space, and only so many humans on site. We try to help the public as much as we can, but we do not have a huge facility, and we only have a limited number of inside/outside kennels. During the winter, most outside dogs come inside, so they take up the inside kennels.

  • Does Easys take cats?

We have really been asked this question numerous times. No, we do not take cats. We are a dog shelter and ONLY a dog shelter. We do not take cattle/livestock of any kind. Our specialty is dogs!

  • Does Easys have dogs for adoption?

Yes, all of our dogs listed on our site are up for adoption, UNLESS stated otherwise! Our adoption fee is $250 unless stated otherwise.

  • How does Easys know what breeds of dogs they have?

We typically use an app to determine the breed, but we also make our best guess. We are not 100% accurate with breeds unless we know the breed history of the dog/puppy. Some past adopters have gotten dog DNA tests done, and its really cool to see how close we were!

  • Can I adopt an unaltered dog from Easys?

No. We DO NOT adopt out dogs/puppies that are not spayed/neutered, UNLESS stated otherwise (ex. senior dog). The benefits of spaying/neutering your dog are endless, such as preventing reproductive cancer, unwanted litters, aggression/roaming issues. We strongly urge everyone to spay/neuter their pets.

  • Why is my new dog not settling in yet?

(Also refer to the 3/3/3 rule below) So, there could be many reasons why your new dog is not settling in yet. Dogs are complex creatures, especially in a new environment or if we do not have the full history/past of the dog. Is the dog not okay in a chaotic household? Are they chewing things up, even though they have toys? This does not mean they are a bad dog, it simply means they either need more patience/time settling in, or maybe the dog is not a right fit for your lifestyle. Please reach out to us if you have any concerns or questions regarding this topic, we are happy to assist with any issues there may be. *We do require that if you adopt a dog through us, and it doesn’t work out, you have to bring the dog back to us unless specifically instructed otherwise *

  • What is Easys adoption fee, and what does that fee cover?

Our fee for any of our dogs/puppies (unless stated or posted on Facebook otherwise) is $250. This fee covers: S/N fee, shots/vaccines, and dewormer.

  • What is the 3/3/3 rule?

The 3/3/3 rule is a GENERAL guideline for the adjustment period of your adopted dog, it goes by 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months. The first 3 days after you bring your new adopted friend home, they are decompressing, getting used to a brand new environment. They might not eat a lot, they might feel timid and wanting to escape. This is normal, they are adjusting and they need patience. Around 3 weeks, they should start to feel a little more like themselves, wanting to play and getting used to your routine and learning boundaries. They might also start to have behavioral issues. Around 3 months, they should be well adjusted with the learned routine, they should be able to feel safe and relaxed enough to socialize with others. This is all GENERALIZED, for more information and resources, you can call us, or visit https://www.hsnt.org/post/the-3-3-3-rule
